| Off-Screen: His custom-made neon sign that reads 'Arrest Me!' |
by Lewis Shaw
Like many people who earn a lot of money doing whatever it is they do, there came a time when the 30-year-old Shanwaz Khan thought he might celebrate his personal wealth by purchasing a vanity plate for his car. However, unlike most people, it was a vanity plate that would soon lead to his arrest. Mainly because it let everyone know that his car was stolen.
Khan, who led a multi-million pound ring of carjackers who would steal parts (or indeed entire cars) and sell them abroad, was arrested after police suspicions were piqued by a number-plate that read 'S20LUN.'
The more worrying implication is that number-plates that read ST0L3N, or S70LEN were already taken by more quick/literate carjackers.
Police then followed his £55,000 Audi RS4 around to several houses, where they discovered an 'Aladdin's cave' of stolen parts, a term which led some of the more PC PC's to wonder whether or not that could be misconstrued as racist.
Khan has been jailed for seven years after being found guilty of theft operations across the West Midlands.
