A public display, celebrating the new arrival of new water cannons, backfired when small objects such as eggs, tennis balls and water bottles left 'fist-sized' dents in the windows of the vehicles, according to a report by Austrian Times.
The projectiles were thrown by members of the police force, who were attempting to display the 'tough punishment' that the vehicles could supposedly sustain.
The vehicles, which have already been used three times already (just not against people armed with anything stronger than gravel) caused an embarrassment for local constabulary in the German province of Thuringen. The German government has purchased 78 of the Austrian-made vehicles, to be used against football and political dissent.

The Interior Ministry is yet to comment on the irony of water-tanks on wheels being near-disabled by... water.
